Snowboarder is killed in Tirol
kaltenbach - A snowboarder from Leipzig was killed during a descent in the Tyrolean Alps. Only after six hours of searching did rescue teams find the 39-year-old man Monday morning, the Tyrolean police said.
The man had gone on his way alone on Sunday afternoon with his snowboard on a field with lots of snow along a lift route. He probably fell in the snow and was completely buried by sliding snow masses.
The Leipziger Volkszeitung reported that the snowboarder was found using data from his mobile phone. He had sent his wife a photo showing the elevator route. The route in the area is allowed at your own risk. But before the accident, there was about one and a half meters of fresh snow.
