magdeburg - A sixth person has died following the attack on the Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg.

A sixth person has died following the attack on the Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg. Prosecutors announced on Monday that a 52-year-old woman has passed away in the hospital due to her injuries.

A driver drove into visitors of the Christmas market in the East German city on December 21 at high speed. The driver, a 50-year-old Saudi with a permanent residence permit in Germany, was quickly arrested and remains in custody. The investigation into the motive is ongoing.

It was previously reported that the attack had claimed the lives of five people and left nearly three hundred others injured. Dozens of people were hospitalized after the attack.
