Storm Herminia has led to the most severe flooding in decades in northwestern France. According to the mayor of Rennes, approximately 15,000 people have been affected by the floods. In Guichen, more than 2300 houses are without power.
Three departments, including Ille-et-Vilaine, Morbihan, and Loire-Atlantique, are still under a red alert due to flooding. Four other departments in the western part of the country are under an orange alert. The warnings are expected to remain in place until at least Wednesday.
The storm has also resulted in heavy snowfall in the Alps. Authorities in Switzerland and France are warning of increased avalanche risk as a result.
