The 38-year-old is scheduled to undergo a medical in Madrid on Monday before finalizing a one-year contract until December 2025. Ramos, a free agent since leaving Sevilla, signed a pre-contract agreement with Monterrey after the club's executives visited Spain to seal the deal. Despite interest from Fenerbahce, Ramos opted for Monterrey over a reunion with his former boss José Mourinho. Monterrey coach Martin Demichelis confirmed the impending arrival of Ramos, who spent 16 years at Real Madrid, winning numerous titles including four Champions Leagues and five LaLiga trophies.
