amsterdam - All artworks from the National Museum are on display since Wednesday by Internet giant Google. It involves a total of some 200,000 works of art, making it Rijks at one time the largest museum in the Google Cultural Institute.

Lovers can not only see pictures of all works of art, but also a la Google Maps digital walk through the museum. Director of collections at the National Museum Taco Dibbits is pleased with the digital expansion. 'The collaboration fits perfectly with our vision that the Rijksmuseum and is for everybody, '' said Dibbits.' In this way the world enjoy even more people from the collection. '' Dibbits follows next month Wim Pijbes as director of the Rijksmuseum.

More than a thousand museums have since its launch in 2011, joined the Google Cultural Institute. But visitors can see more than just museums. So people can virtually walk around the US national parks like the Grand Canyon, or the ruins of the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu in Peru.
