Secret Hamas Documents Expose Horrific Treatment of LGBTQ Individuals
A recent revelation from secret Hamas documents obtained by the New York Post has shed light on the brutal torture and execution of LGBTQ individuals within the organization.
The documents, provided by the Israeli military, reveal a disturbing 'morality check' list maintained by Hamas, targeting individuals who allegedly engaged in 'homosexual conversations' and acts of sodomy. Those identified on the list, which includes 94 men, are accused of moral deviations such as having romantic relationships on social media, failure to pray, and engaging in immoral behavior.
The uncovered records span from 2012 to 2019 and primarily involve Hamas recruits who did not pass the organization's screening process. Homosexuality is strictly prohibited in Gaza and can result in severe penalties, including lengthy prison sentences or even death.
In a chilling case from 2016, a Hamas commander, Mahmoud Ishtiwi, was executed after being accused of homosexuality. The court document accompanying his verdict described the act of sodomy as a grave offense, deemed punishable by stoning in the Quran. Ishtiwi endured a year of torture in a Gaza prison before facing execution.
Furthermore, the documents indicate instances of male Israeli hostages being subjected to sexual assault. However, Hamas reportedly refrained from sharing these incidents, as male rape contradicts their religious beliefs.
