Second round needed in election Cyprus

nicosia - Nikos Anastasiades got the most votes during the Greek Cypriot presidential election according to the first forecast, but with that no new term. The TV channels CyBC and RIK reported after closure of the polling stations that he can not boast of a majority. That requires a decisive round, with numbers 1 and 2 from now. That is on February 4.

According to the exit polls, the conservative Anastasiades can count on 38 to 42 percent of the votes. The incumbent president is likely to face Stavros Malas next week, as in 2013. This independent candidate, who receives support from the left, reaches 27 to 31 percent in the polls. Center Democrat Nikolas Papadopoulos (21.5-24.5) seems to be lacking. The other participants do not stand a chance for a follow-up.
