Search for Missing Malaysia Airlines Plane Resumes 11 Years Later

After approximately 11 years, search operations have resumed for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane, which took off from Malaysia in March 2014 and was never heard from again. The vessel Armada 7806 belonging to 'Ocean Infinity' has anchored approximately 1000 kilometers off the coast of Perth, Australia, to collect data from the ocean and seabed using robots. If the wreckage is found, Ocean Infinity is expected to receive approximately $70 million. The MH370 Malaysia Airlines flight, with 227 passengers and 12 crew members, took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Beijing on March 8, 2014. The plane lost contact 38 minutes after takeoff. Detected by military radars deviating westward from its planned route, the aircraft was tracked flying south towards the southern Indian Ocean as seen in some radar records. The search operation conducted at points estimated to be where the aircraft crashed in the Southern Indian Ocean was the most expensive search and rescue operation in aviation history. However, aside from some aircraft parts confirmed to belong to MH370, no trace of the plane was found. The search operations for the missing plane resumed in January 2018 after the Malaysian government's agreement with the submarine exploration company named 'Ocean Infinity'. After Ocean Infinity also failed to locate the wreckage, Malaysia announced the termination of the operations in mid-June 2018.
