tokyo, japan - Japanese firefighters halt search for truck driver in Tokyo sinkhole, shifting focus to sewer pipe where truck part was found.

Search for Man in Sinkhole Suspended

Japanese firefighters have ceased the search for a truck driver in a sinkhole near Tokyo, as attention turns to a sewer pipe where a truck part was discovered. The sinkhole, which opened on January 28 at an intersection, has widened to about 40 meters and 15 meters deep. Rescuers last spoke to the man on the day of the accident before withdrawing due to unstable ground. Water seepage into the hole has further complicated search efforts.
