balen, belgium - Search effort for the body of Heidi De Schepper in Balen has not yielded results yet, despite a recent breakthrough in the case.

Search for Heidi De Schepper Continues

The search for the body of Heidi De Schepper in Balen has not produced any results so far. Authorities resumed the search on Sunday after an unsuccessful attempt on Saturday, where part of an industrial site on Poeierstraat was excavated. The Civil Protection, federal police victim identification team, and missing persons unit are all involved in the search. On Friday, a breakthrough occurred in the case when three suspects, including Nick M. and Nick Geys, were detained. Geys, who had previously served time for another murder, confessed to De Schepper's murder and disclosed the burial location. Despite the efforts on Saturday, the search was inconclusive, prompting a continuation of the search on Sunday.

Nick Geys, previously convicted for a fatal assault in 2013, was released early from prison a few years ago. The recent developments suggest that De Schepper's murder took place before his previous conviction.
