- Researchers have found a new method, called periodic boiling, to cook the perfect egg resulting in a healthier and tastier outcome.

Scientists Unveil Perfect Egg Boiling Method

Researchers have discovered a revolutionary way to cook the perfect egg. Traditional methods often result in either overcooked yolks or undercooked whites due to the different temperatures required for each component. However, a new technique called periodic boiling, as revealed in a study led by scientist Pellegrino Musto from the Italian National Research Council, involves alternating the egg between boiling water at 100 degrees Celsius and lukewarm water at 30 degrees. This process, repeated every two minutes for a total of 32 minutes, ensures a perfectly cooked egg with a runny yolk and firm whites.

The study also highlighted the health benefits of this method. Eggs cooked using the periodic boiling technique were found to contain higher levels of polyphenols, known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Epidemiological studies suggest that a diet rich in polyphenols can have a positive impact on heart health, reduce the risk of certain cancers, and offer other health benefits.
