israel, gaza strip, lebanon, syria - Israel suspends release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Israeli captives, sparking crisis in the 7th round of the swap deal with Hamas.

Israel-Hamas Prisoner Swap Crisis

In a shocking turn of events, Israel halts the release of 620 Palestinian detainees, defying security officials' advice. Prime Minister Netanyahu's decision to stop the prisoners' release order during a meeting with top officials has escalated tensions.

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office announced the postponement of the Palestinian prisoners' release until the safe return of Israeli captives from Gaza and ensuring ceremonies are conducted without exploitation by Hamas. The decision was made due to Hamas allegedly breaching the agreement by disrespecting Israeli captives and using them for propaganda.

Moreover, the Israeli Defense Forces claimed an airstrike targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon near the Syrian border, accusing the group of attempting to smuggle weapons. The Lebanese media reported the strike in a rural area near Kusaya village in the Bekaa valley.

The families of the Israeli captives expressed distress over the lack of official information regarding the deaths of Shiri and her children, while the Palestinian Prisoners Society condemned Israel's delay in releasing the detainees, describing it as a form of organized terrorism and maltreatment towards the prisoners and their families.
