Saudi Prince Announces Completion of World's Tallest Building in 2028

The Jeddah Tower, set to be the world's tallest building at 1008 meters, is expected to be completed in 2028. Saudi Prince and developer Alwaleed bin Talal announced this during the resumption of construction works. Originally planned to be finished in 2020, funding issues caused multiple delays since the project started in 2013.

According to the 69-year-old Bin Talal, financing is now secured. The skyscraper in the city's port was initially scheduled for completion in 2020 but due to financing problems, the construction project has been halted multiple times. The Jeddah Tower aims to compete with the neighboring United Arab Emirates, who currently hold the world's tallest building title with the 828-meter-high Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The American architecture firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, known for the Burj Khalifa, is responsible for this skyscraper's design as well.

The 157-story Jeddah Tower, currently pouring concrete for the 64th floor, is planned to accommodate 'around 75,000 to 100,000 residents' and will include a Four Seasons Hotel along with office and retail spaces. The total project costs are estimated at 'more than 100 billion riyals' (approximately 25.6 billion euros), as per Bin Talal.
