Qunun fled from Kuwait where she stayed with family members. In her own words she took the plane to escape 'physical, psychological and verbal' abuse by her family. She wanted to apply for asylum in Australia, but stranded in Thailand. To prevent her being sent back to Kuwait, the woman barricaded the door of her hotel room at Bangkok airport on Monday and sought social assistance.
