kursk, russia - Russian forces gain control of over 800 square kilometers in Kurksta region as Ukraine launches counterattack.

Russia's Military Progress in Kursk

Russian General Staff Deputy Chief Colonel Sergey Rudskoy announced the latest military advances in Kurksta region, where over 800 square kilometers of land have been seized from Ukraine.

Colonel Rudskoy stated that approximately 64% of the land captured by Ukrainian forces in Kursk has been recaptured by Russian forces. He mentioned that well-trained air and sea infantry units have been deployed to repel the Ukrainian attack.

Rudskoy emphasized that Russia now controls over 75% of Donetsk, Zaporijya, and Herson regions, as well as more than 99% of Luhansk region, declaring these areas as an integral part of Russia that will never be returned to Ukraine.

He highlighted the significant territorial gains made by Russian forces in reclaiming over 4,500 square kilometers in 2024, with an additional 600 square kilometers retrieved in the first two months of this year.

Rudskoy underscored that the future of the conflict depends on whether the West will accept a new European security architecture that considers Russia's interests.

President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Russian troops have crossed the border into Ukrainian territory, with the 810th Brigade advancing along the entire contact line.

Ukraine's Disinformation Combat Unit and General Staff dismissed Putin's claims as misinformation, asserting that Ukrainian positions in Kursk remain intact.
