Russians: research poison gas Douma Wednesday

the hague - An international team of experts who want to investigate the possible poison gas attack in the Syrian Douma can start work on Wednesday. That expectation was expressed by the Russian ambassador at the organization against chemical weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.

According to the Russians themselves, there has been no poison gas attack at all. Their experts were in Douma on Thursday and Friday and would not have found any evidence.

A team of researchers from the OPCW wants to see if there was actually a poison gas attack and which gas was used. The West thinks that the Syrian regime, backed by the Russians, was behind the attack on the rebel stronghold. The OPCW's mission did not yet have access to the area in Douma that would have been affected.
