ukraine - The Russian tanks are running low amid the war against Ukraine, leading to concerns about when a critical point will be reached. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant losses for Russia, impacting both troops and military equipment.

The head of the Ukrainian intelligence service has stated that the war is expected to continue for another year or so due to Russia's dwindling tank supply. More than 650,000 Russian troops have been lost in Ukraine, along with thousands of tanks and infantry vehicles. The losses include both old and modern tanks, with even the advanced T90M tanks being significantly impacted.

Comparisons have been drawn between the Russian tanks and the Leopard 2 tanks owned by the Netherlands, highlighting differences in capabilities. Despite plans to produce more T-90M tanks, concerns remain about the sustainability of Russia's tank supply. The reliance on older tank models, such as the T-80, T-72, T-62, and T-55, poses additional challenges.

As Russia exhausts its tank reserves and faces difficulties in maintaining and repairing older tanks, experts predict a critical threshold will be crossed in the near future. The expectations are that by 2026, Russia may deplete its Soviet-era tank reserves, impacting its long-term military goals.

The potential introduction of the Armata (T-14) tank, a more advanced model, offers some hope for Russia's tank fleet. However, delays and uncertainties surround the Armata's operational capabilities, raising questions about its effectiveness in combat scenarios.
