Russian Space Probe Kosmos 482 Likely Crashed in the Indian Ocean

The European Space Agency (ESA) has reported that the 50-year-old Russian space probe, Kosmos 482, is highly likely to have crashed in the Indian Ocean after losing contact during a pass over Germany.

Decades in Orbit

Launched in 1972 with the mission to reach Venus, Kosmos 482 encountered rocket issues preventing it from reaching the planet. Over the years, parts of the probe broke off, but the main landing capsule remained in orbit.

Increasing Satellite Presence

With an estimated 7000 satellites currently orbiting Earth, Elon Musk's Starlink project aims to significantly increase this number by 2040, facilitating global internet connectivity.
