Russian media ignore politician after sexual misconduct

moscow - Several Russian media take measures because of a riot about sexual harassment in the House of Commons. At least five female journalists have accused parliamentarian Leonid Sloetski of such misconduct, reported The Moscow Times.

The media was wrong in saying that the Duma ethics committee wiped the accusations Wednesday. The committee ruled after having studied two complaints that it was not proven that the politician behaved 'inappropriately', TASS news agency reported.

TV network Dozhd then announced that it would end the work in the Duma. 'It has become clear that it is simply too dangerous for women to come to the State Duma', said editor-in-chief Aleksandra Perepjolova according to The Moscow Times.

Other media take similar measures. Radio station Echo Moskvi no longer sends correspondents to the Duma. Dagblad Kommersant said 'to put an end' to the cooperation with Sloetski. New website Lenta. ru said he now ignored the 'existence' of the controversial politician, except in reporting on the alleged sexual harassment.
