russia - A former Leonardo DiCaprio impersonator from Russia, Burtsev, has been enlisted in the Russian army and stands to earn a significant sum. Find out more about his journey from impersonator to soldier.

Burtsev is one of many Russian recruits, but with a familiar face. The former IT specialist had a successful career as a Leonardo DiCaprio lookalike. He gained fame in Russia by working as a double in various commercials, including one for vodka brand Five Lakes. Burtsev also had his own TV show on a local channel, where he honed his resemblance to DiCaprio. However, his impersonation gigs dried up reportedly due to his weight gain during the pandemic, making it harder for him to pass as DiCaprio.

After taking on various odd jobs, Burtsev has been called to serve in the Russian military. By signing the contract and completing training, he stands to receive a bonus of around 19,000 euros, as well as a monthly salary of nearly 2,000 euros while at the frontline. A social media post by Burtsev already shows him in uniform as a soldier.
