kursk, donbass, zaporizhia, ukraine, russia - Russia's Defense Ministry announced that they have responded to Ukraine's attacks in Kursk by launching a counterattack. The ministry reported that the Ukrainian advance in Kursk has been halted, and they have captured the critical town of Kurakhovo in Donbass.

Russia's Defense Ministry stated that they have launched a counterattack to halt Ukraine's advance in Kursk. The ministry reported that Russian forces attacked armored vehicles and the Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold at the border of Kursk region with Su-34 fighter jets.

The Ministry said, "The advance of the Ukrainian army that occupied the Kursk region was stopped yesterday morning." Referring to intelligence reports, the Defense Ministry claimed that the Ukrainian army lost over 49 thousand soldiers and 273 tanks in Kursk.

Additionally, the Defense Ministry announced that they destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones during the night attacks.

In a separate statement, the Defense Ministry also declared that they have captured the town of Kurakhovo in Donbass along with the Kursk region. The ministry mentioned, "The southern group's attack has completely liberated the most dense Kurakhovo town in the southwest of Donbass." It was emphasized that the town is a crucial logistical center for the Ukrainian army and would significantly hinder logistic and technical support to Ukrainian forces heading towards Donetsk.

The statement revealed that in the liberation of Kurakhovo, 80% of enemy personnel, 40 tanks, and a total of 3 thousand ammunition were destroyed by Russian forces.

Moreover, clashes intensified around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The IAEA reported that two explosions were heard near Europe's largest nuclear power plant. They stated, "Our officials reported high-decibel explosions coinciding with news of attacks on the training center of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant near which the attack occurred." The IAEA mentioned that no damages have been detected yet.

The IAEA also noted that machine gun fire was heard several times from the region where the nuclear power plant is located.
