Alexander Pichushkin, known as the 'Chessboard Killer', is ready to admit to eleven more murders, increasing his total count to 59.

Background

  • Between 1992 and 2006, Pichushkin targeted victims in and around Bitsa Park, one of the largest nature parks in Moscow.
  • His victims were mainly homeless and elderly individuals.

Arrest and Conviction

Pichushkin was caught after the murder of Marina Moskalyova in 2006, leading authorities to CCTV footage of them together before her death.

Infamous Nickname

Referred to as the 'Chessboard Killer', Pichushkin confessed to hoping to place a coin on each square of a chessboard for his victims.

Recent Development

Despite being convicted of 48 murders, Pichushkin is suspected of more. He expressed willingness to confess to 11 additional murders.

If confirmed, Pichushkin would be the second most prolific serial killer in Russia after Mikhail Popkov, a former police officer convicted of 78 murders.
