rome - The Italian government has made EUR 153.5 million available for emergency aid for areas affected by the severe weather. Rome also announced that it will invest 900 million euros in the prevention of natural disasters in the next three years.
The natural violence last weekend demanded thirty lives. In Sicily, nine people were killed when they were surprised in a house by the rapidly rising water. In the Veneto region, where many tourists come, roads have been swept away by the swirling water and millions of trees have been uprooted.
