washington - Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appointed as Minister of Health amidst resistance and controversies in Washington.

Controversial Appointment of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Minister of Health

Despite warnings from family members and protests from both Democrats and Republicans, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., known for his vaccine-critical views, has been appointed as the Minister of Health. The Senate approved his nomination with a narrow vote of 52 to 48, with Republican Senator Mitch McConnell being the only dissenting vote.

The 71-year-old son of the late presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy has vowed to address the nation's health issues by tackling processed foods and the influence of Big Pharma. With the country facing numerous health challenges such as diabetes and an expensive healthcare system, Kennedy's appointment has sparked debates and concerns.

During the confirmation hearings, Kennedy faced scrutiny over his past controversies, including his history of drug addiction and anti-vaccine beliefs. Despite the opposition, Kennedy assured the Senate that science would guide his policy decisions and that he would not oppose existing vaccination policies.

Kennedy's appointment is seen as a political move by President Trump, who nominated him to repay a political favor. Kennedy, a former Democrat, had suspended his own campaign to support Trump during the presidential race, which significantly helped Trump secure votes.

With Kennedy's confirmation, the Trump administration has overcome another hurdle in the appointment process, following controversies surrounding other nominees like Tulsi Gabbard and Pete Hegseth. The Senate is also expected to approve the nomination of FBI candidate Kash Patel, who aims to restructure the agency.
