Ricine is awkward terror weapon

amsterdam - Two Egyptian brothers who were arrested in France for a terrorist plan wanted to use explosives and possibly the poison ricin. That means is not very effective to sow death and destruction, experts say. Perhaps the terrorists had themselves brought to an idea by Netflix.

According to the French Minister of Interior Affairs, the brothers found manuals for making and distributing ricin. They ran into the light after messages on the Telegram service were intercepted. Where in France they were arrested and where they wanted to strike is not known.

Ricine is a strong poison from the beans of a tropical tree. The drug has been successfully used to kill targeted people. A ricin injection usually runs poorly for the recipient. In 1978, a Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov at Waterloo Bridge in London was stabbed with an umbrella point that shot a small poison projectile. Four hours later the victim was dead.
