Review: Headphones under review

- Headphones are abundant today. We surveyed three new models, aimed at a totally different audience. From the audio file to the gamer to the regular consumer.

It's not the first to notice the Meters Music OV-1 (€ 329), but when I read noise canceling it draws my attention right away. Because I can enjoy beautiful music without being distracted from the noise in a bus, train or plane. What obviously strikes on these headphones are the VU meters in the earphones, so everyone can see how loud the music is. Unfortunately, the headphones are not wireless.

From the Skullcandy Hesh 2 I was not a fan in 2015. The headphones were too tight. To my surprise, the Hesh 3 (€ 129.99) looks very different. The plastic appearance has remained, but the earplugs and hinges have become a lot slimmer so that it will appeal to a wider audience. The battery will last for 22 hours. If they are empty, you can use 90 minutes of earphones after 5 minutes of loading.

The Teufel Cage (€ 169.99) is not just a headphone. He is dedicated to gaming. The included USB cable connects to the PC or PlayStation 4 and there is an audio cable for the Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. Also in the box is a microphone that can be inserted into one of the ports on the headphones. Convenient to communicate with other players, but you can also call. Do not even gamble? The Meters Music OV-1 is a striking appearance. Not only because of the meters and a finish of white nep leather and rose metal. The headphones are pretty sharp and as a woman it looks a bit strange on your head. I would not walk along the street soon. There is an excellent sound quality, however. The sound is hot and the bass is just right. By the way, for the best result, you must turn off the noise cancelling.

The Skullcandy Hesh 3 is easy to use. Three clearly tactile buttons are enough to pause music, switch to the next or previous number and make calls. A child can do the laundry. Can the Hesh 3 measure the sound quality of the expensive brands? No, but that's not the target group either. Skullcandy does his own thing. That gives a good sound with just too strong bass.

The Teufel Cage is light and comfortable on the head. Useful to play a good game. Supports a game surround sound? Then the audio information is forwarded to the Cage so you can better hear from which direction an enemy comes for example. PC players have the 7. 1 virtual surround sound for an even more spacious feel. The sound sounds good, if the bass is on the weak side. Teufel has software that allows you to tune it better, but only pc players have it.

If you were going to go for the best sound, the Meter Music OV-1 with heads and shoulders above the other two protrudes. But for a spicy € 329 price tag, you do not have wireless headphones. The Teufel Cage does not have this either, but it also focuses on the gamer and does it very well. Anyone looking for a headset for a good gaming experience must definitely watch these headphones. The Skullcandy Hesh 3 could have seen something more luxurious for € 129.99, but the sound is fine and that's the most important thing.
