- Smartphones young people have to endure the often considerable. The screen will quickly destroy or appliance accidentally dive into the toilet. Reason for Alcatel to come up with the OneTouch Go Play, a budget phone that it can take a beating.

Hardware

Budget Phone is not the same as ugly. Alcatel has clearly tried to speak to the youth with a hip design. The Go Play is to gain in many bright colors and thanks to the rubber-like finish on the back is the perfect hand. With this phone you can best be seen.

The Go Play is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 1.2Ghz, pretty standard in this type of inexpensive devices, and 1GB RAM. This ensures not exactly a powerful and fast machine. The 1280 by 720 pixel screen is otherwise quite nice. It gives the colors nice weather. The 8GB of storage is too little, but can be expanded with a Micro SD card.

At the front of the smart phone is a 5 megapixel camera. It meets as you want to make a selfie, but really good is the quality not. This also applies to the 8 megapixel camera on the back. The colors are faded and the unit has difficulty with too much or too little light. In order to get a good picture, the external factors therefore need to be perfect.

The skin itself Alcatel has added Google's Android 5. 2 looks nice, but it does make the phone slow. You notice a marked slowdown when you switch applications or're scrolling. Handy are the buttons on the home screen that lets you quickly open the computer or music player or to quickly add a new contact.

Unique

The unique element of the Go Play is that it is provided with an IP67-certification. That means that the device is completely dustproof and can remain submerged for 30 minutes in one meter of water. All openings are neatly hidden behind a flap. For accidents in the bathroom or in the kitchen you need to make you worry. Furthermore, the phone sturdy and robust and can well take a beating.

Conclusion and similar products

The Go Play (€ 189) is an excellent tool for young people. On the outside is clearly devoted much attention to the cheerful appearance, the robust and the fact that the device is waterproof. In terms of software, however, is somewhat disappointing. Sometimes falters keep things and the pictures in quality behind.

Would you still like more value for money than you're better off with a Motorola Moto G (€ 159), SC K10 (€ 196) or Samsung Galaxy J5 (€ 169), but you honestly who do a lot more boring out.
