leipzig - Researchers in Leipzig have discovered new work by the world-famous composer Mozart, believed to have been composed when he was a young teenager.

Researchers have unearthed twelve unknown minutes of music by Mozart in Leipzig. The experts speculate that Mozart (1756-1791) composed the work when he was a very young teen, possibly between the ages of 10 and 13, says Ulrich Leisinger from the Stiftung Mozarteum, a foundation specialized in Mozart's work.

The twelve-minute piece starts with a march, followed by six shorter sections. Similarities with other compositions of Mozart from that period, as well as external features such as the composer's name on the sheet music, provide evidence, according to Leisinger, that it is an early work of the composer. He stated, "We are convinced that we can present an unknown and charming work by the young Mozart." Mozart's most famous work is believed by many experts to be Eine kleine Nachtmusik.

The new work will be introduced and performed at the Leipzig Opera on Saturday, September 21st.
