spain - A Spanish football federation judge denies Real Madrid's plea to postpone their LaLiga season opener after the Club World Cup participation. The decision mandates Madrid to play as scheduled against Osasuna on August 19.

Real Madrid's Request to Delay LaLiga Season Opener Rejected

A Spanish football federation judge has turned down Real Madrid's request to reschedule their LaLiga season opener following their participation in the Club World Cup. Madrid's plea to postpone the match against Osasuna on August 19 was dismissed by RFEF judge José Alberto Peláez.

Background

Real Madrid played their last Club World Cup game on July 9, losing 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal. LaLiga had set the season's first game for August 19, giving Madrid 41 days of rest and preparation time.

The Judgment

The judge stated that Madrid had already fulfilled the 21-day rest period required by the collective agreement. He noted that the regulations do not mandate an additional 21 days for physical and tactical preparation, as Madrid had argued.

Appeal Option

Real Madrid has a 48-hour window to appeal the judge's decision. Meanwhile, their rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are set to commence their league campaigns as scheduled on August 16 and 17, respectively.
