- Real Madrid has officially signed Benfica's left-back Álvaro Carreras, reuniting the player with his former club after stints at Manchester United and Benfica.

Real Madrid Signs Álvaro Carreras from Benfica

Real Madrid has confirmed the acquisition of left-back Álvaro Carreras from Benfica, marking a return to his former club after a spell at Manchester United.

New Defensive Recruit

Carreras, 22, rejoins Madrid's ranks alongside other defensive signings such as centre-back Dean Huijsen and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, aiming to strengthen the team for the upcoming Club World Cup.

The move comes after a trophyless season for Madrid, with disappointments in LaLiga, Copa del Rey, and the Champions League.

Álvaro Carreras' Career Path

Álvaro Carreras, a Spain under-21 international, excelled in the 2024-25 season with Benfica, making 32 Primeira Liga appearances and featuring in 10 Champions League matches.

Having started his career at Madrid's academy, Carreras spent time at Manchester United before his successful stint at Benfica.

The left-back's arrival addresses Madrid's need for defensive reinforcement, particularly in the left-back position.
