RBS scrap nearly 800 British jobs

london (anp/rtr) - The British bank Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) puts the knife in its offices in England and Wales.

On the home market, the bank closes 162 affiliates of daughter Williams \u0026 Glyn, which costs 792 jobs, RBS announced Tuesday.

RBS says many locations are too close together. Because consumer behavior has changed, fewer customers come to many of these locations. RBS says to limit the number of redundancies to a minimum.

The first branches close in the summer months. The rest will follow in November.

At the end of last year, RBS, which has been rescued by the British government and is still in the hands of the state for more than 70 percent, has already closed 259 branches. That was then accompanied by the loss of 680 jobs.
