amneville - The zoo in Amnéville, north of the French city of Metz, is experiencing a remarkable baby boom this month. The month started with the birth of a rare white rhinoceros. It is a 85-pound female and her name is Arenka. A few days later, the Bengal tiger Orissa gave birth to triplets. These tigers are even rarer than the endangered rhinos.

The three are called Mohan, Râni and Raja, reported French media.

White rhinoceros is hunted on a large scale in China. There are no more than 25,000 of them in the wild. The kind of tiger that the zoo of Amnéville now has triplets, hardly lives in the wild anymore. There are less than 4000 copies of it.
