CARACAS (ANP / DPA)- The opposition in Venezuela has called on Saturday all over the country to keep quiet for the people who died from riots and protests against left-wing president Nicolas Maduro. The Democratic Unit Table (MUD), the covenant of opposition parties, asked participants to wear white shirts to make it clear that it is a peaceful action.

Since the beginning of April, 21 people have been killed in protests against the government. The violent riots took place in the night of thursday on friday. In the capital of Caracas, twelve people were killed, of whom eleven in the La Valle neighborhood. A number of people were electrocuted there in plundering a bakery.

Angry Venezuelans have protested since the supreme court of the country at the end of last month. That step was soon reversed, but the popular wrath was not tempered there. The activists demand Maduro to step up. Security groups are increasingly involved in mass protests.
