Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely not to attend the upcoming inauguration of the US President-elect Donald Trump. The Kremlin confirmed that no invitation has been received yet for the ceremony on January 20.
During Trump's first term, he seemed to have a good relationship with Putin and they spoke regularly. According to a book by the prominent journalist Bob Woodward, the two remained in contact even after Trump's departure from the White House. Trump has indicated that his relationship with Putin would help to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible.
CBS News previously reported, based on anonymous sources, that Chinese President Xi Jinping has been invited to the inauguration. It is still unclear whether Xi will actually travel to Washington.
