russia - Russian President Putin apologized to Azerbaijani President Aliyev for a plane crash involving an AZAL aircraft in Russian airspace.

Russian President Vladimir Putin apologized to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for a passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) being shot down by the Russian air defense system in Russian airspace. The passenger plane was trying to land in Grozny while the area was under attack by Ukrainian drones and Russian air defense systems were repelling the attacks. Putin apologized to Aliyev for the incident occurring in Russian airspace and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. The Russian Investigative Committee is continuing its investigation into the downing of the plane, questioning civilian and military experts.
