russia, ukraine, us - Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky react positively to the upcoming US President Donald Trump's willingness to facilitate discussions on ending the war in Ukraine.

In response to the statement made by the incoming US President Donald Trump that he is preparing for a meeting with Russian President Putin to 'end' the war in Ukraine, the Kremlin has responded positively. Ukrainian President Zelensky has also expressed a desire to sit down with Trump soon.

According to Kyiv Independent, the Kremlin welcomes talks from the incoming US President Donald Trump, but mentions that plans for a potential face-to-face meeting would only be made after his inauguration later this month.

Ukraine is also anticipating engaging in discussions with the new president immediately after Donald Trump's inauguration, as reported by American media outlets. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Heorhii Tykhyi emphasized the importance for Ukraine to collaborate with the US. He stated, 'We are therefore preparing for high-level contacts.'

Trump, set to assume office on January 20, pledged during his election campaign to 'end' the war in Ukraine 'within 24 hours.' Under Joe Biden's presidency, the US had been Ukraine's primary support since the start of the Russian invasion in 2022, providing over $65 billion in military assistance.
