Puppy Mountain: A Dog-Shaped Wonder

A mountain that bears a striking resemblance to a dog's snout, located on the banks of the Yangtze River, has unexpectedly become a popular tourist destination in China. What started as a holiday snapshot quickly turned into a viral phenomenon after a Shanghai designer shared a photo of the 'Puppy Mountain', attracting a surge of curious visitors, with and without dogs.

Influencer Guo Qingshan, while strolling in his hometown of Yichang, Hubei province, in late January, captured the peculiar mountain. It was only later that he realized the uncanny resemblance of the mountain to a dog's snout, perfectly aligned with the waterline of the Yangtze River.

Guo posted the photo on RedNote, a Chinese social media app, garnering an impressive 120,000 likes within ten days. The hashtag #xiaogoushan ('Puppy Mountain') went viral on Weibo, amassing millions of views.

Dog owners flocked to the mountain, sharing pictures of their canine companions posing next to the natural wonder. 'Here I am, Puppy Mountain!' exclaimed an enthusiastic visitor alongside a photo with the mountain. Some even believe that a stroke of the stone 'dog head' brings good luck.
