PSG Signs Lucas Chevalier as New No. 1 Goalkeeper

Paris Saint-Germain has finalized the acquisition of goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille in a €40 million deal, with additional bonuses totaling €15 million. Chevalier, 23, passed his medical and is set to become PSG's primary goalkeeper.

Donnarumma to Depart

The signing of Chevalier means Gianluigi Donnarumma will need to find a new club this summer. PSG, not intending to retain the Italian goalkeeper, now has two top goalkeepers in their squad for the upcoming season.

Interest from Top Clubs

Chelsea, Manchester United, and Inter Milan are expected to make offers for Donnarumma, with all three clubs having engaged with Enzo Raiola, the goalkeeper's agent. Donnarumma, 26, sought a contract extension with PSG but could not reach an agreement due to salary disputes.

Donnarumma, a key player for PSG's Champions League victory last season, demanded a pay increase and rejected the club's new salary structure imposed by sporting director Luis Campos, favoring higher incentives based on performance.

Managerial Preference for Chevalier

PSG's decision to bring in Chevalier aligns with manager Luis Enrique's desire for a goalkeeper with superior ball distribution skills and comfort on the field. Chevalier's attributes suit the playing style Enrique envisions for the team.
