- Paris Saint-Germain eyeing Liverpool's Ibrahima Konaté for defensive bolster in the upcoming transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain Targets Ibrahima Konaté

PSG is looking to sign Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté in the summer to strengthen their defensive line. Sources reveal the player's interest in the potential move to the Ligue 1 club.

The French champions aim to secure a long-term partner for Marquinhos in the central defense, planning for the future without the aging Brazilian international, who will turn 31 in May.

Konaté, a France international, is intrigued by the idea of returning to his birth city, Paris, where he started his football journey in Paris FC's academy before moving to Sochaux in 2014.

Having joined Liverpool in 2021 from RB Leipzig, Konaté has become a pivotal player for the Merseyside club, forming a strong partnership with Virgil van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool's defense under managers Arne Slot and Jürgen Klopp.

Despite being offered a contract extension by Liverpool until 2026, Konaté remains non-committal about his future at Anfield, stating that he is currently focused on the present.

With achievements in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, Konaté's tenure at Liverpool has been marred by injuries, limiting his appearances in the Premier League. An injury sustained during a Champions League match against Real Madrid has sidelined him for eight games this season.

Currently, Liverpool, under Arne Slot's management, leads the Premier League table by seven points and is set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their next fixture at Anfield.
