Presidential candidate Brazil stabbed

brasilia - Brazilian presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro has been stabbed. This happened according to local media during a campaign meeting. The son of the right-wing politician said on Twitter that his father was hospitalized with a 'superficial' wound.

On television images it can be seen that Bolsonaro is on the shoulders of supporters at the time of the attack. The former army officer then grabs his stomach while his face starts from the pain. The police announce that they have arrested a suspect.

Brazil is going to the polls next month. Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva argued the polls, but he is now barred from participating. The left-wing politician is serving a prison sentence because of a corruption judgment. The previous president Dilma Rousseff, a party member of Lula, has been dismissed.
