Postponement of decision Decembermoorden
paramaribo - Whether there is finally a penalty against President Desi Bouterse in the trial of the December killings will only be announced on May 11th. In the Court of Justice in Paramaribo, the decision of whether or not a lawsuit came to an end was postponed on Thursday.
Bouterse ordered the Public Prosecution Service (OM) last year to stop the prosecution of him and his fellow citizens. Wringing with Article 148, which the government in certain cases controls over the OM, 'Bouta' stated that the process of state security is ongoing in the course of the process.
When the Martial Council decided to continue the prosecution, the Attorney General of the OM called for this. Presumably under heavy pressure from the president.
