Positive Results from Istanbul Meeting

The recent technical meeting at the US Consulate General's residence in Istanbul between US and Russian delegations concluded with constructive dialogue and agreement to continue the talks. Ambassador Aleksandr Darciyev, Director of the North Atlantic Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, is reported to be appointed as the Russian Ambassador to the US.

During the meeting, Darciyev led the Russian delegation, while Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Russia and Central Europe, Sonata Coulter, led the US delegation. Both sides agreed on improving the functioning of their diplomatic missions in Moscow and Washington. The Russian side also mentioned the possibility of resuming direct flights between the US and Russia.
