Porosjenko regulates exchange Savtsjenko itself

- President Petro Poroshenko on Wednesday personally to the Russian city of Rostov on Don flown to exchange Nadezhda Savtsjenko. Ukrainian helicopter pilot in March was sentenced by a court in Rostov up to 22 years in prison for the murder of two Russian journalists.

Exchange Savtsjenko is seen by the West as a sign that the tension between Russia and Western states decreases somewhat. Moreover, the West decided soon on the economic sanctions imposed after the annexation of the Crimea to Moscow.

The murder of the journalists had been committed in eastern Ukraine in 2014. Savtsjenko was captured by pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine and handed over to the Russians. The pilot said that they had been arrested before the murder was committed. Ukraine dubbed the trial as a sham and it was supported by the European Union and the United States. The West has always insisted on Savtsjenko's release.

A week ago, Moscow refused to participate in an exchange unless Ukraine Savtsjenko her punishment would leave fully serve domestically. President Putin granted her pardon Wednesday, as his Ukrainian counterpart did when the two Russians.
