Pope does not want to go into cover-up accusations

vatican - Pope Francis refuses to accept accusations that he has covered up abuse scandals within the Roman Catholic Church. During his return trip to Rome, the spiritual leader on the plane said that the document with the allegations 'speaks for itself'. and that he does not want to elaborate on it.

In the eleven-page document, the resignation of Francis is demanded because he would have known for years about the abuse by the American cardinal Theodore McCarrick. The allegations are from archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano. He was a number of years nuncio (ambassador) in the United States.

Vigano came out with his statement at the time the pope was visiting Ireland, where abuse within the church has left a deep wound. Francis told journalists that they themselves have enough skills to draw conclusions from the document.

88-year-old McCarrick resigned in July after several men accused the former archbishop of Washington of sexual abuse.
