Police Chief Charlottesville resigned

charlottesville - The Chief of the Charlottesville boarded Monday immediately. He made that decision after the publication of a critical report on police action during the nationalist event on 12 August, during which a demonstrator was killed. A 32-year-old woman died after she was killed by an opponent.

Police commissioner Alfred Thomas has announced that he will retire after a 27-year career in law enforcement, the city council said. The departure of Thomas comes two weeks after the publication of a report that showed that the police were badly prepared for the violence.

'Nothing in my career has filled me with more pride than serving as a police commissioner in Charlottesville,' Thomas said, having been police chief in the city since April 2016. 'Commissioner Thomas is an honorable man who has taken care of critical leadership ', said city director Maurice Jones.
