In Gwangju, South Korea, a man who attacked a police officer with a knife was shot and killed by the police after ignoring verbal warnings.

Local authorities stated that the police officer, responding to an emergency call from two women, went to a back alley in the Geumnamro area.

The officer, who was stabbed twice by an unnamed 51-year-old man, used his weapon in self-defense, shooting the attacker.

The assailant, who was taken to the hospital with injuries, was pronounced dead, while the police officer underwent surgery due to serious neck and facial wounds.

It was reported that the attacker ignored the police's verbal warnings and warning shots, leading to a detailed investigation into the incident.
