Police attack on Mogadishu

- In a suicide car bomb attack on the headquarters of the traffic police in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Monday certainly killed two policemen. Three policemen were wounded, police said.

The police managed to repel an assault on the building. One of the attackers was killed in a firefight.

The extremist Islamist group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility. According to spokesman Abdiasis Abu Musab nine policemen were slain and two attackers were killed. The group carries out regular attacks to bring the government backed by the West of Somalia 'to waver.
