madrid - A tarantula crawled aboard and bit a pilot, leading to hours-long inspection upon landing.

Tarantula Bite Incident on Flight to Madrid

A tarantula that crawled on board the Airbus A320 of Spanish airline Iberia recently bit the pilot, who was promptly treated with Urbasón, a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory properties. The pilot is reported to be in good condition.

The flight proceeded smoothly and safely landed in Madrid, although the subsequent flight experienced a three-hour delay due to an extensive search for the tarantula, followed by disinfection procedures.

Experts suggest that the tarantula may have stowed away in a passenger's luggage during a previous flight from Casablanca to Madrid, with reported sightings in Brussels, Zurich, and Toulouse.
