- Philadelphia Union breaks club record with the acquisition of Uruguayan forward Bruno Damiani for a transfer fee of $3.4 million from Nacional.

Philadelphia Union's Club-Record Acquisition

The Philadelphia Union made headlines by acquiring Uruguayan forward Bruno Damiani for a club-record transfer fee of $3.4 million from Nacional, his former club in the Uruguayan Primera Division. Damiani, 22, signed a deal that guarantees his presence until 2028, with an option for 2029. Known for his physicality, dominance in the final third, and clinical finishing, Damiani is set to strengthen the Union's striker unit. His recent success includes helping Nacional secure the Supercopa title and an impressive performance on loan at Uruguay's Boston River. Additionally, Damiani earned his first call-up to the Uruguay national team in 2024, showcasing his potential on the international stage.

Damiani's Gesture of Gratitude

Expressing his gratitude towards Nacional for his development, Damiani mentioned making a financial donation to the club's youth categories as part of the transfer agreement. Highlighting his loyalty to Nacional, Damiani emphasized the role the club played in his career and the gesture as a token of appreciation for their support.

Upcoming Season for the Union

The Union's season kicks off on Feb. 22 with an away game against Orlando City at 7:30 p.m. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Damiani and the Union, as they aim to make an impact in the upcoming matches.
