atlanta - The Democratic Party in the United States, Tom Perez Saturday elected a new chairman. Perez was Secretary of Labor under President Obama.

He faces the daunting task to rebuild the Democratic Party and to oppose Trump and the Republicans. Perez won the second round of Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected in the congress. In his speech during the party meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, Perez explained that the Democratic Party is facing a 'crisis of confidence and relevance.

Perez is the son of immigrants from the Dominican Republic.
